Heat the Wax and Oil to the Same Temperature
- Heating the waxes and oils to the same temperature is important, as it prevents the two substances from separating once combined. Beeswax and extra-virgin olive oil are excellent facial cream ingredient choices. The olive oil is non-comedogenic and emollient, while the beeswax is highly nutritive and will help seal in moisture. Using a glass candy thermometer, heat the wax in a double boiler until it reaches 110 degrees Fahrenheit, while heating the olive oil in a separate pot to the same temperature. Once they reach the same temperature, pour them into a blender, and blend them on medium high for 10 minutes. The mixture will become thick and frothy.
Add the Soothing Ingredients
- Adding soothing ingredients to your facial cream will help keep the skin smooth as well as reducing redness. Aloe vera gel is known for its skin-soothing and burn-relieving properties, while chamomile essential oil reduces skin puffiness and inflammation. Aloe vera gel and chamomile essential oil can be added once the waxes and olive oil has been blended for 10 minutes. Add 1/4 cup of aloe vera gel and 10 drops of chamomile essential oil to the mixture. Blend the entire mixture for another 5 minutes until the aloe vera and chamomile essential oil has been incorporated into the mixture.
Cool and Store
- Before using natural, homemade facial cream, it must be cooled completely and stored in a glass container. This prevents it from separating and becoming spoiled. Pour the mixture from the blender into small glass containers, and store the mixture in the refrigerator until it has cooled completely. Use your homemade facial cream throughout the day, or give small containers of it away as gifts to friends and loved ones.
